This is by far the most popular elliptical bike on the market.  It does the job, does not require much space and is reasonably priced. The only main disadvantage cited by various users is that it is not as sturdy as some of the higher end bikes. It may also take a little bit of effort to put together if you are not mechanically savvy but this is a one time task. But, hey, if you are not going to subject it to extreme use then it is the best “pound for pound” bike in terms of value for money ( it is currently under $200).

This is also  another good choice for an elliptical machine. It is sturdy (for people upto 220 lbs), works as advertised and is less noisy than the confidence 2 above.  The dual trainer function seems to be the most remarkable thing about this machine—it can be used as a bike or for a stand up run and essentially serves the function of two machines you would find in a commercial gym while taking just half the space. Priced at around $250 it is extremely great value for money.

Schwinn 430 Elliptical Trainer

Going on popularity alone and the sheer number of positive reviews this machine wins hands down. If you are not budget conscious this is the machine for you. Priced around $600 — $700 this machine is almost three times as expensive as the previous two but there are a couple of reasons.

  • It is more sturdy than the previous two. Virtually no one complains about it being shaky or wobbly. It is also heavier than the other two so you’ll definitely need some help putting it together.
  • It is more comfortable to use
  • It is smooth and ultra quiet.

Obviously the major disadvantage is price when compared to the previous two models. But for what it is worth this machine has better ratings than many in the $2000 to $3000 price range.
